I began this little project almost a year ago. It had been a tough school day. The kids were frustrated with math. They didn’t see the point of latin declensions. There were tears. And I was frustrated at my own limitations in helping them, in convincing them, in guiding them. I wanted them to have a tool they could go to at any time that, while not necessarily explaining a math problem, would address the deeper frustrations, the spiritual and mental blocks that are so paralyzing, God is supremely sovereign, the First Mover of all things, including every single subject our children study. So, I prayerfully crafted 40 prayers in the style of The Valley of Vision to demonstrate how all education finds its true and ultimate meaning in the Godhead, a beautiful reminder to our kids in the throes of their schooling.

This book of prayers, based on scripture, literature and a Charlotte Mason educational perspective, is a daily finger pointing up, out from ourselves and our books and on to Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of the wisdom and knowledge of God. It answers the frequent questions of “why” and “what for”, training young minds towards a delight in all that is holy.

While this booklet was initially penned for christian, homeschooled students studying middle and high school, its intent and purpose far exceeds that limited group. Anyone interested in education, anyone continuing their own education, anyone teaching or learning can benefit from the suggested perspective of these prayers.

You can download the archive for free here by clicking on the cover page below and I’ll find a permanent place for it here on the blog. Hopefully it will be a reliable resource in this coming school year and if it is a blessing to you and your kids, please share!
